Community Programs

HHI is committed to community partnerships and supports social, environmental and systems changes. This commitment is put into action through its Community Programs component.

2007 Activities:

Developed the Hawaii Physical Activity and Nutrition Plan 2007 – 2012
Coordinated the first Hawaii Physical Activity and Nutrition Summit
Worked with a variety of state agencies and community groups on creating active living communities in Hawaii
Funded the development of State and County Physical Activity and Nutrition Coalitions
Continued the implementation of community level intervention projects

2008 Activities:

Coordinate a Physical Activity and Nutrition Forum (follow up to the Hawaii PAN Summit)
Release a quarterly Physical Activity and Nutrition Newsletter
Continue to hold workshops to assist in the designing and development of active living communities
Continue development of worksite wellness initiatives
Offer continued support for community level initiatives
