Recess Before Lunch Toolkit
A Recess Before Lunch (RBL) schedule is a no cost system change that has shown to improve students’ behavior, nutrient intake, and classroom performance. RBL reverses the traditional lunchtime schedule so that students are encouraged to be active immediately prior to eating lunch. The Dept. of Health Healthy Hawaii Initiative collaborated with the Dept. of Education to develop the Recess Before Lunch Toolkit for Hawaii Schools to support elementary schools that currently implement RBL and those who would like to make the schedule change.
